Light Reaction
-also known as light phase or photochemical reaction
- it takes place in grana
-absorbtion of sunlight by chlorophyll molecules
- energy is tranferred from electrons
- energy from electrons used for formation of ATP
- splitting of water molecule into H and O ( photolysis)
-formation of ATP from ADP
- formation of NADPH
Dark Reaction
-also known as dark phase or fixation reaction.
- CO2 enters in the reaction
- reduction of CO2 takes place into carbohydrates
- hydrgen is taken from NADPH
- energy is used from ATP
- process of fixaton of CO2 also called calvin's cycle

**light reaction occurs in grana of chloroplast. Using light enery, water molecules and split out to release oxygen..
**Dark reaction take place in the stroma of chloroplast by reducing carbon dioxide to carbohydrate, utilising energy from ATP
