Members of Lok Sabha are directly elected by the eligible voters. Members of Rajya Sabha are elected by the elected members of State Legislative Assemblies in accordance with the system of proportional representation by means of single transferable vote.

1. Lok is more powerful than Rajya Sabha.
2. Money Bill can be introduced only in Lok Sabha. Once a money bill is passed by Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha cannot reject it.
3. Lok Sabha can be dissolved before the tenure. But Rajya Sabha cannot be dissolved before the tenure is over as it a permanent house.
4. Lok Sabha is elected directly by the people for 5 years but Rajya Sabha is indirectly elected by the people for 6 years.
