Differentiate between mass and weight.(5 points)

There is a basic difference, because mass is the actual amount of material contained in a body and is measured in kg, gm, etc. Whereas weight is the force exerted by the gravity on that object mg. Note that mass is independent of everything but weight is different on the earth, moon, etc.

hope it helps

The differences between mass and weight are as follows:

• Mass of an object refers to the actual amount of material present in the object whereas weight of an object refers to the force exerted by gravity on the object.

• Mass is an independent value which remains constant wherever the object is present whereas weight is a dependent value which is not constant and depends on where the object is present.

• Mass can never be zero whereas weight can be zero at a place where there is no gravity i.e, space.

• Mass is measured in Grams or Kilograms whereas weight is measured in Newton.

• Mass is a scalar quantity as it has only magnitude whereas weight is a vector quantity as it has both magnitude as well as direction of force exerted on it.
