Meiosis is the cell division that leads to production of gametes(egg and sperm) and mitosis is cell division in somatic cells (vegetative cells).In mitosis 2 daughter cells are obtained and 4 in meiosis.The daughter cells in mitosis are identical whereas in meiosis it is random assortement of characters.
