A meteor, known colloquially as a shooting star or falling star , is the visible passage of a glowing meteoroid, micrometeoroid, comet or asteroid through Earth's atmosphere, after being heated to incandescence by collisions with air molecules in the upper atmosphere, creating a streak of light via its rapid motion

• Meteor is a phenomenon whereas on the other hand meteoroid is the rock or piece of rock that takes part is this phenomenon.

• Meteor is caused due to aerodynamic burning of meteoroid whereas meteoroid are the rocks or debris from space that tends to enter the earth's atmosphere.

• Meteor are specifically the visible light when the meteoroid is entering earth's atmosphere whereas meteoroid is specifically the particle from space.
