Moderate and Radical are two words with a clear difference between them mainly due to their stance in relation to a particular belief or act. For instance, in politics and religion, we find people who have radical ideals in opposition to others who have more moderate ideals. A moderate is someone who holds moderate views. Such a person does not believe in extreme approaches. On the other hand, a radical believes and supports extreme ideals. In this sense, such an individual supports complete social and political reforms. This is the main difference between the two words, moderate and radical.

Hello friend,

Moderates and Radicals differed in their ideologies:

a. While the moderates believed that they could achieve their objectives under the guidance of the British rule .Radicals like Bipin Chandra pal, Bal gangadhar Tilak believed in agitation, swadeshi and boycott methods and declared Swaraj as their ultimate goal.

b. Moderates believed in constitutional methods like holding meetings, passing resolutions in getting their demands fulfilled. Radicals emphasised the importance of self reliance and constructive work. They wanted to prepare the indians for any sacrifice to get freedom.

c. Moderates believed in giving a passive role to the masses. Radicals believed in direct participation of the people.

Moderate leaders wanted to develop public awareness about the unjust nature of British rule.

a. They published newspapers, wrote articles, and showed how British rule was leading to the economic ruin of the country.
b. They criticised British rule in their speeches and sent representatives to different parts of the country to mobilise public opinion.
c. Some of their demands were reduction of revenue, cut in military expenditure, more funds for irrigation, representation to Indians in the legislative council.

Hope it helped u
