Modern states are ruled by a centralised authority and power where as in a nation state, citizens develop a communal identity built on language, shared, customs and traditions

EXPLANATION:

    Modern state is defined as the autonomous legal system of administration with authority and power over a demarcated geographical area. That is, modern state is a state with a mandatory political organisation with a centralised govt. which retains a control on the lawful utilisation of force within a demarcated geographical area.

    Besides, modern state is a representation of community and collective action. A nation state is a state where in most of them shares the same culture and is aware of it. The nation state is an ideal state wherein cultural peripheriesis consistent with political peripheries.

    A nation state is an independent state where majority of its subjects are unified by aspects that defines a nation like common descent or language .
