Movement along demand curve :-

when due to change in in its own price a loan quantity demanded of a commodity changes it is expressed by different points on the same demand curve it is also called movement along demand curve for change in quantity demanded.

Shift in demand curve :-

In this case, the entire demand curve shift either upward or downward .This type of change take place when quantity demanded changes due to change in other factors other than on price of the commodity.

Movement along demand curve :-

  1. Movement along demand curve refers to all such situation fan change in demand is related to change in own price of the commodity. It is also called "change in quantity demanded".
  2. Other determinants of demand (other than on price of commodity) are assume as constant.
  3. Diagrammatically, it is shown as downward or upward movement along the demand curve.

Shift in demand Curve :-

  1. Shift in demand curve refers to all such situation when change is demand is related to factor other than price of the commodity it is also called as "change in demand".
  2. Own price of the commodity is assumed as constant, while any of the other determinant of demand changes.
  3. Diagrammatically it is shown as a forward or backward shift in demand curve.
