The difference is significant, but for someone who’s familiar with the Arabic scripts. As you may know both Persian and Arabic languages use the same Arabic script.

Both Persian and Arabic Calligraphy have several styles which some of them are close to each other and some of them are far. Nastaliq style was adopted from “Taliq” style which was an Arabic style. I think the best way would be googling for images of these styles!
