Answer:

An indicator gives different colours in acid and base and thus it is used for testing acids and bases. A natural indicator is obtained from natural sources while synthetic indicators are man made and do not occur in nature. Litmus is a natural indicator which is extracted from a type of plant called lichen.

The indicators which can be obtained naturally ie from the nature directly are natural indicators.

EX: turmeric , litmus , etc

the indicators which are man - made ie made using different chemicals are called synthetic indicators.

EX: phenolphthalein, methyl orange, etc

These indicators change their colors based on the types of solutions they are in contact with.
