Net Sown area is the total area sown with crops in a country. Area sown more than once is counted once only.
Gross sown area is the area sown more than once in an agricultural year plus net sown area.
So, for example if you have a 1 acre field, you have a net sown area of 1 acre (if and when it is sown).
If it is sown 3 times in a year, then you have a gross crop area of 3 acres, which might cover the spring/summer sowing and maybe the _current_ autumn .
