Northern mountains => They are formed due to the folding of earth crusts therefore called young fold mountains.
=> The altitude of Himalayas are from 4500 to 8000m.
=> The Mt.Everest, K2, Kanchenjunga etc are the highest peaks.
=> They are snow capped mountains.
=> The alpine forests and temperate are found in this region.
Southern hills => They were formed due to the break up of Gondwanaland during pre cambrian time.
=> The altitude of southern hills are from 1500 to 3000m.
=> Anaimudi, Doda Beta etc are the highest peaks.
=> They are not snow capped.
=> The evergreen forests and tropical forests are found in this region.
