Answer:

Spinach cells have chlorophyll present in them which onion cells do not . As a result spinach cells can carry out photosynthesis while onion cells can not. This makes spinach an autotroph.

Onion peel cells : do not contain chloroplast, they do not perform photosynthesis, the peel is obtained from modified leaves that perform the function of storage. The storage organelles are leucoplasts. All the cells are uniform in shape and form many layers.

Spinach peel cells: The cells of spinach leaf contain green coloring pigment the chlorophyll contained in chloroplast. The cells perform the process of photosynthesis. They also store food in the form of starch granules.

The cells are not uniform as seen in onion peel. They are of different shapes and sizes placed in layers from the dorsal to the ventral side.
