Organic compounds,

  • They are compounds essentially having having carbon atoms in the structure along with other atoms.

  • They mainly show covalent bonding.

  • Essentially have C and H hydrogen atoms.

  • Most compounds are colourless.

  • Most do not dissolve in water due to their hydrophobicity.

Inorganic compounds,

  • They are compounds that do not essentially have carbon atoms in their structure.

  • Show ionic bonding along with covalent bonding.

  • Can have any atom except C and H directly bonded together.

  • Most compounds are colourful.

  • Most can dissolve in water due to the presence of ionic bonds.
