Both are the solvent and solute particle are free to move in diffusion but in compare to osmosis only the solvent molecule cross the membrane

Explanation:

osmosis-

1 the process by which water molecules of solvent tend to pass through the semi permiable membrane from less concentrated solution to more concentrated one

2 diffusion of water molecules

3 involves the movement of water molecules

4 occurs through the cell membrane

5 cytocil and extracellular fluid involve

6 two types are endosmosis and exosmosis

Diffusion-

1 movement of all free molecules from the area of their higher free energy to their lower free energy

2 it can operate in any medium and applicable to all type of substance.

3 it does not require any semipermeable membrane.

4. two types are regular osmosis and chemiosmosis.
