Redox is a chemical reaction in which the oxidation states of atoms are changed. Any such reaction involves both a reduction process and a complementary oxidation process, two key concepts involved with electron transfer processes. In an oxidation-reduction, or redox, reaction, one atom or compound will steal electrons from another atom or compound. A classic example of a redox reaction is rusting.

oxidation reduction is a reduction in which there is loss of electrons,or addition of hydrogen or loss of oxygen .for ex:
Cu(s)=Cu2+ +2electrons
hence here 2electroms are lost so it is a oxidation reaction
Reduction reaction involves addition of electrons or loss of hydrogen or addition of oxygen.
For example
Zn(aq) + 2electrons = Zn(s)
hope ur satisfied wid mah answer...
