Differentiate between Pelton wheel and Francis turbine:

Pelton wheel:

  • Pelton wheel or turbine is a tangential impulse turbine which is used for high head of water.
  • In Pelton wheel energy occurred through pressure of water is change into kinetic energy.
  • In Pelton wheel energy present at turbine inlet.

Francis turbine:

  • It is a type of hydraulic turbine with radical inflow.
  • Francis turbine is reaction turbine which has some special type of feature which makes it different from other impulse turbine.
  • It is combination of impulse and reaction turbine.
