differentiate between permanent settlement and ryotwari settlement

The difference between zamindari and ryotwari is regarding the collection of its tenures. Ryotwari settlement was introduced by Thomas Munro in Madras Presidency because most of the area in the madras presidency is under zamindaries even before the British acquiring India. There are few huge zamindaries in which the dewans, and rest possess huge acreages of lands which they cultivate using their own labor.
