There are several differences between a physical and chemical change in matter or substances. Aphysical change in a substance doesn't change what the substance is. In a chemical change where there is a chemical reaction, a new substance is formed and energy is either given off or absorbed.

Physical change :-
- Changes take place only in properties such as colour, physical state, density, etc.
- Change is temporary.
- Original substance can be obtained back easily.
- Chemical properties of the substance remain unchanged even after the change.
- Example :- Formation of cloud,Magnetising an iron bar etc.
Chemical change :-
- Change results in the formation of new chemical substances.
- Change is permanent.
- Original substance cannot bee obtained back easily.
- New substance with different properties are formed
- Example :- Burning of fuel, Digestion of food etc.
