Potentiometer :-
- It measure the emf of a cell very accurately
- while measuring emf it does not draw any current from the source of known emf
- Its sensitivity is high
- it is based on null deflection method
- it can be used for various purposes
- While measuring emf the resistance of potentiometer becomes infinite
Voltmeter :-
- It measure the emf of a cell approximately
- While measuring emf it draws some current from the source of emf
- Its sensitivity is low
- It is based on deflection method
- It can be used only to measure emf or potential difference
- While measuring emf thara distance of voltmeter is high but finite
