Primary sources:

Actual data or research results or any historical event

Examples:

Dairies, published materials, Maps, Documentary

Secondary Sources:

Records created after the event by non-participants of any historical event

Examples:

Encyclopedias, Biographies.

Primary Sources

These are original documents or objects.These existed or were created at the time of the  event. These are accurate and authentic.It takes a long time to gather information.Examples: - Letters, Diaries, eye witness  accounts, interviews, speeches, posters, creative  works, artefacts, recordings, photographs,  autobiographies etc.

Secondary Sources

These are works that analyze, summarize and/or  interpret the primary sources. These were written after an event took place. These can sometimes differ from author to  author. Information can be gathered in a short period by  referring to the primary source.Example: - Research studies, Literary work,  biographies, textbooks, encyclopedia, magazine,  articles, text books etc.
