There are several differences betweenthe two, but the biggest distinctionbetween them is that eukaryotic cellshave a distinct nucleus containing thecell's genetic material, whileprokaryotic cells don't have a nucleus and have free-floating genetic material instead.

PROKARYOTIC CELL -

  • Size of cell is generally small
  • Nuclear region is not present
  • There is a single chromosome

EUKARYOTIC CELL -

  • Size of cell is generally large
  • Nuclear region is well defined and surrounded by nuclear membrane
  • It has more than one chromosomes
