watershed management:- This is the resource management method employed by the government basically in rain-fed areas(almost completely dependent on rainfall) wherein major objectives of the watershed management program are:
1) conservation, up-gradation and utilization of natural endowments such as land, water, plant, animal and human resources in a harmonious and integrated manner with low-cost, simple, effctive and replicable technology;
2) generation of massive employment;
3) reduction of inequalities
between irrigated and rain-fed areas and poverty alleviation.
rainwater harvesting:-
Rainwater harvesting is the accumulation and storage of rainwater for reuse on-site, rather than allowing it to run off.Rainwater can be collected fromrivers or roofs, and in many places, the water collected is redirected to a deep pit (well, shaft, or borehole), a reservoir with percolation, or collected from dew or fog with nets or other tools. Its uses include water for gardens, livestock,irrigation, domestic use with proper treatment, indoor heating for houses, etc. The harvested water can also be used as drinking water, longer-term storage, and for other purposes such as groundwater recharge.
Rainwater harvesting is one of the simplest and oldest methods ofself-supply of water for households usually financed by the user.[1]

Rainwater harvesting is the collection and storage of rainwater for reuse on-site, instead of allowing it to run off. Rainwater harvesting is an innovative method employed to harvest rainwater from roofs and other high surfaces to be saved for later application.
Watershed management is a word employed to explain the method of performing land value systems and water management methods to preserve and enhance the quality of the water and other natural resources within a watershed by regulating the application of those land and water resources in a broad manner.
