●● BLACK SOIL ●●

=> It consists of large amount of clay and humus and is formed from basic rocks like basalt and in places of lava deposits. This type of soil is suitable for cotton cultivation. In India, it is found in the Deccan Plateau region.

●●RED SOIL ●●

=> It is formed by the weathering of igneous and metamorphic rocks. It is highly porous. It is red due to presence of iron in it. It is mainly found in areas of medium rainfall.

●● LATERITE SOIL ●●

=> It is formed due to the leaching process especially in the areas with heavy rainfall. It is less fertile and suitable for growing grass. It is red due to the presence of clay and red stones. It is found in areas where heavy rainfall occurs.
