Reserved forest were the best forests of India. Villagers could not take anything from these forests.

Protected forests were also protected by the villagers but they could collect wood from these forests but not for commercial purposes.

II) The maindifference between these two categories offorests is that ; In reserved forests the activities like grazing, haunting etc. are generally banned unless permission is granted for a particular reason.
