1.) The cultivator was recognized as the owner of his land as long as he paid the land revenue.

2.) The revenue was paid directly by the cultivator to the revenue officials.

3.) The revenue was fixed at about half the total produce.

THE MAHALWARI SYSTEM:

1.) Under this system land was collectively owned by the villagers.

2.) The revenue settlement was made with the village as a whole.

3.) The talukdar ar head of the mahal collected the revenue and hand it over to the British collectors
