Shadow is real. The shadow can be depicted as: Shadow is caused by obstruction in path of light. While mirror image is caused by reflection of light coming from the source and perceived by the human eyes as it is.

Shadow is formed when light is obstructed by an opaque object where as Image is the reflection of light rays by an object. shadow does not contain colour but image contains colour.is that shadow is a dark image projected onto a surface where light (or other radiation) is blocked by the shade of an object while reflection is the act of reflecting or the state of being reflected.
