Sheet erosion occurs when a thin layer of topsoil is removed.

Gully erosion is the process by which gullies are formed. Hillsides are more prone to gullying when they are cleared of vegetation.

Sheet erosion is the uniform removal of soil in thin layers by the forces of raindrops and overland flow.


Gully erosion is the removal of soil along drainage lines by surface water runoff.
