The difference b/w sigma bond and pi bond is:1)sigma bond:covalent bond is formed by the end to end overlapping of half filled orbitals of two atoms along the intermolecular axis is called the sigma bond. It is formed between two binded atoms .it is has cylindrical symmetry.sigma bond is less reactive2)pi bond:a covalent bond formed by side wise overlapping of half filled p orbital and d orbital of two atoms which is concentrated above and below internuclear axis is called pi bond.it is more reactive.it is referred as mobile electrons.free rotation is not possible
