Explanation:
A dormant volcano is one that is “sleeping” but could awaken in the future, such as Mount Rainier and Mount Fuji. An extinct volcano is “dead” — it hasn't erupted in the past 10,000 years and is not expected to ever erupt

Answer:
Dormant or Sleeping volcanoes are ones that are not currently active, and haven’t been in awhile, but were in the past and could become so again at some point in the future. They are, essentially, waiting.
Extinct or dead volcanoes are essentially dead. They were active in the past, usually very, very long ago, but so much has changed since then that there is little to no chance of them erupting ever again.
