Differentiate between SN¹ and SN² mechanism.

sn1 means first shell
sn2 means 2nd shell

1. For SN1 reactions, the rate determined using the steps are unimolecular in nature. for SN2 reaction, the step followed to determine the rate is bimolecular.


2. SN1 is the two-step mechanism process, whereas the SN2 reaction is a one-step process.


3. During the SN1 reaction, the carbocation gets formed as an intermediate, but, during the SN2 reactions, it wont get formed.
