The difference between social entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship is in the context surrounding the two issues. Entrepreneurship is a practical skill applicable to any human endeavor, be it in business, government, management, and any personal affairs. While Entrepreneurship is a practice that one applies to any endeavor in society whether it be by individual or by group. There are so many definition accruing to this term but one must think that the term entrepreneurship is never about putting up a small business. Entrepreneurship is likened to an app similar to those used in computing technologies. Entrepreneurship as a practical skill can be applied in business as it is in managing and governance as well as in any personal endeavors like teaching. Entrepreneurship is likewise used in the way people in a society live. This leads us to the idea about Social Entrepreneurship.

I define entrepreneurship as an activity that involves innovation. Innovation requires creativity as it is in doing this that new useful, beneficial, and affordable things are formed to effect better and beautiful human life as a consequence. There can never be entrepreneurship without innovation and no innovation could happen without creativity, therefore entrepreneurship is all about innovation and creativity. Let us first define the term “social”as an adjective here in this text, it means doing something to effect change in the way people live their life, and achieve and economic status that would enable them to enjoy life in the most humane manner.

Social Entrepreneurship involves human development in terms of building individual livelihood skills, knowledge, and attitude. In terms of livelihood skills, individuals are coached, motivated and led to create some some changes in the way they do things in earning a living as a person individually and as a people in a community. Social Entrepreneurship involves teaching, coaching, motivating and leading people how to organize themselves as a potent group of individuals capable of providing their selves the means to enjoy individual and family as a community. Social Entrepreneurship is directed towards the realization of human dignity through self-help or helping them to help their selves and their capability to help each others. Social Entrepreneurship is practice of survival and thriving on their own individual and group strength. Social Entrepreneurship is a practice of doing things in complete synergism in a particular unit of society, be it in a Barangay level or town or city level.

Social Entrepreneurship therefore is about using the practical concept of entrepreneurship in changing the ways of how society survives through self help and synergism.
