A substance which has molecules closely packed together is known as a solid. No movement takes place in it. It doesn't take the shape of the container in which it is stored

A substance which has mild attractive forces( i.e loosely packed)of molecules but movement takes place is known as liquid. It takes the shape of the container in which it is stored.

In gas, the molecules do not have any attractive force and they move in their own wish.It also takes the shape of the container in which it is stored.
