Solids

  • Solids have definite shape, volume and size.
  • It's so because the intermolecular space between the molecules in solids is negligible and the intermolecular force of attraction is high in Solids.
  • Solids are rigid.
  • Compressibility is negligible in solids.

Liquids

  • Liquids have a definite volume, but indefinite shape and size.
  • Intermolecular space between the molecules in liquids is more than solids and inter molecular force of attraction is low in liquids as compared to solids.
  • Liquids can be compressed.

Gases

  • Gases neither have a definite volume, nor they have a definite shape and size.
  • Intermolecular space between the molecules in gases is highest as compared to solids and liquids.
  • Intermolecular force is negligible in gases.
  • Gases can be compressed easily.

Hope it helps.
