SOLUBILITY PRODUCT

  • It is the product of conc of ions of the electrolyte each raised to a power of their coefficients in the balanced chemical equation in a saturated solution.
  • It is applicable only to saturated solutions.
  • It has a constant value

IONIC PRODUCT

  • It is the product of conc of ions of the electrolyte each raised to a power of their coefficients in the balanced chemical equation in a solution at any conc.
  • It is applicable to all types of solutions at any conc.
  • Its value is not constant.

The differences between Ionic product and solubility product are as follows:-

Information about Solubility product :

  • It is the product of the ionic concentration in the standard solution.
  • It is applicable only to standard solutions only.
  • It has a fixed value of a salt or electrolyte.

Information about Ionic product:

  • It is the product of the ionic concentration at any concentration of solution.
  • It is applicable to any type of solution.
  • The value of ionic product changes with the change in concentration.
