Differentiate between solute and solvent. What happens if we keep on adding more and more solute to a saturated solution. Also tell what alternative we can use in order to dissolve some extra sugar to the solution.
Answers
Answer:
A solute is the material present in the smaller amount in the solution. A solvent is the material present in the larger amount in the solution
If more solute is added and it does not dissolve, then the original solution was saturated. If the added solute dissolves, then the original solution was unsaturated. A solution that has been allowed to reach equilibrium but which has extra undissolved solute at the bottom of the container must be saturated
When temperature is increased, solubility increases, i.e. more solute can be dissolved in the solution. Thus it is possible to add some more solute to a saturated solution by heating the solution. By increasing the temperature, solubility increases.
