differentiate between Suspension and sediment by giving an example
Answers
Answer: Examples of Suspension
Some common examples of suspension are
Muddy water
Milk of magnesia
Sand particles suspended in water
Flour in water
Slaked lime for whitewashing
Paints in which dyes are suspended in turpentine oil.
Sedimentation only happens in a fluid medium. And it covers the whole process of the particles separating from the suspension, up to the settlement on a surface or a barrier.
Deposition is when any kind of settlement of particles in any medium happens on a surface or a barrier.
So deposition is the final stage of the sedimentation process.
Sorry in advanced, but some of the examples are going to be a bit medical.
- The erythrocyte sedimentation rate is an important test to take into consideration.
- Plaque is deposited on the walls of the arteries.
- The wind deposited a great deal of sand on the roof.
- The particles in the hydrocolloid are starting to sediment.
