The main difference between template and coding strand is that template strand only serves as the template for transcription whereas coding strand contains the exact same sequence of nucleotides in the mRNA except thymine.

- The Template strand is the strand of DNA which takes part in the process of transcription.
- The polarity is 3' -> 5'
- The nucleotide sequence is complementary to the one present in mRNA.
Coding Strand :-
- The Coding strand is the strand of DNA which does not take part in the process of transcription.
- The polarity is 5' -> 3'
- The nucleotide sequence is the same to the one present in mRNA except for the presence of "T" instead of "U".
