There is the ultimate difference in between them. In which the Terzaghi’s Bearing Capacity will share universal values and lies in between the Meyerhof’s bearing capacity.

There are much higher values which will give forgiven by Terzaghi’s analysis. And the main advantage will lie on the Meyerhof’s bearing capacity to the deep foundations as well as on the slopes.

So the bearing capacity for strip footings will be given by Terzaghi and will be modified for foundations and also for other shapes.

Answer:

       Terzaghi's Bearing capacity equations:

Strip footings:   q_u  = c Nc + q Nq + 0.5 γ B N_γ   …….. (1)

Square footings: q_u  = 1.3 c Nc + q Nq + 0.4 γ B N_γ   ………… (2)

Circular footings:  q_u  = 1.3 c Nc + q Nq + 0.3 γ B N_γ ………  (3)

The ultimate bearing capacity equations (1), (2), and (3.) are for continuous, square, and circular foundations (0<V/L<1) only; they do not address the case of rectangular foundations Also, the equations do not take into account the shearing resistance along the failure surface in soil above the bottom of the foundation (the portion of the failure surface marked as GI and HJ in Figure 3.5). In addition, the load on the foundation may be inclined. To account for all these shortcomings, Meyerhof (1963) suggested the following form of the general bearing capacity equation:
