Differentiate between the equatorial and tropical monsoon climates on the basis of location, climate,
vegetation and economic activities. (Also do this for two other types of climate discussed in the lesson.)
Answers
Well Equatorial is a quite clear band around the earth extending perhaps 250kms north and south of equator. It is basically a row of low pressure systems ringing the equator that move little.
Leads to hot humid conditions with little seasonal variation. I.e., Singapore. 34°c 85% humidity almost every day. A monsonal season of a few-5 months can be noticed.
The tropical climate pattern generally extends from Tropic of Cancer north of eq and to Tropic of Capricorn south. It goes straight through beef town of Rockhampton halfway up Queensland coast in Australia. Tropical climate types invince more seasonal variation and stand out for their very low pressure systems (summer in the southern hemisphere). These often develop into cyclones, typhoons or hurricanes. All the same thing.
Other variations caused by what direction the coast line is facing. Generally north-east facing coast will receive unpredictable but good rainfall. South-west facing might endure desert like conditions. See atacama desert, coast of western Australia, mexico, north-west africa above sahara.
