differentiate between the Following:
a) biotic and abiotic resource
b) Renewable and non renewable resources
c) potential and actual resources
d) localized and ubiquitous
Answers
Answer:
1). Abiotic factors refer to non-living physical and chemical elements in the ecosystem. Abiotic resources are usually obtained from the lithosphere, atmosphere, and hydrosphere. ... Biotic factors are living or once-living organisms in the ecosystem. These are obtained from the biosphere and are capable of reproduction.
2).Renewable resources are solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, biofuels, cultivated plants, biomass, air, water and soil. In contrast, non-renewable resources are those that are available to us in limited quantities, or those that are renewed so slowly that the rate at which they are consumed is too fast.
3).Actual resources are the resources where quantity is known which are being used in the present. Actual resources are the ones surveyed, determined by their quantity and consistency. Coal, water, and petrol are actual resources. The importance of each of these resources depends on its usefulness and other considerations.
The differences between actual and potential resources are tabulated below.
having or showing the capacity to develop into something in the future.
4). Ubiquitous resources are found everywhere. Eg-Air we breathe,Sunlight etc. Whereas localised resources are found only in ceretain places. Eg-Gold ,Uranium etc
Answer - B) renewable resources - the resources which can be released or reproduced by physical chemical or mechanical process are known as renewable or replenishable resources. For example - solar and wind energy , water, forest ,wildlife etc .
non renewable resources- this occur over a very long geological time . Example Minerals and fossil fuel . this resources take millions of year in the formation
C) potential resources - 1. A potential resource is not being used currently.
2. A potential resource can prove useful and become an actual resource in the future.
3. Examples: uranium deposits in Ladakh.
4. The entire quantity of a potential resource may not be known.
Actual resources - 1. An actual resource is one which we use currently.
2. An actual resource might have been a potential resource in the past. It may end up in the future.
3. Examples: coal deposits.
4. The actual quantity of an actual resource is known.
D) Localised Resource
1. These resources are found in a specific geographical location where the physical conditions are favourable.
2. This resource cannot exist without the existence of the necessary physical conditions.
3. E.g., Minerals, iron ore
Ubiquitous Resources
1. These resources are found all over the world.
2. It requires no particular physical condition for it to exist
3. E.g., Air, Water.
