Answer:

1)Meristematic tissues in plants consist of a mass of undifferentiated cells whose main function is to participate in plant growth. Permanent tissues, on the other hand, are differentiated tissues, carrying out dedicated functions.

2)The main difference between bone and cartilage are listed below. Bones are the hard, inelastic and a tough organ that forms part of the vertebral skeleton. Cartilage is a soft, elastic and flexible connective tissue that protects the bone from rubbing against each other. Bones are of two types: compact or spongy.

3)Aerobic respiration is a set of metabolic reactions that take place in the presence of oxygen, occurring in a cell to convert chemical energy into ATPs. Anaerobic respiration is a process of cellular respiration where the high energy electron acceptor is neither oxygen nor pyruvate derivatives.

Answer:

(1)•Meristematic tissues have capacity to divide qhere permanent tissue do not have.

•Meristematic tissue have thin cellulose wall whereas permanent tissue has thick cellulose wall.

•Meristematic tissue do not have intercellular space whereas permanent tissue has large intercellular space.

•Meristematic tissues are responsible for the primary and secondary growth of the plants whereas permanent tissue is responsible for various growths.

•Meristematic tissue has dense cytoplasm with prominent nucleus whereas permanent tissue has thin cytoplasm with normal nucleus.

•Meristematic tissues have many small vacuoles in their cytoplasm whereas permanent tissue contain only single large vacuole in their cytoplasm.

(2) Cartilage

1. It is soft elastic and flexible

2. Cells are known as chondrocytes

3. Matrix is non vascular

4. Matrix is a homogenous mass without

lamellae

5. Matrix has a protein called chondrin

6. Matrix is entirely organic

7. Matrix may or may not have calcium salts

8. Each Cartilage lacks blood supply except

in perichondrium

9. Growth pattern of cartilage is

unidirectional

10. Chondrocytes lack protoplasmic process

11. Lacunae lack canaliculi

12. Each lacunae has 2-3 chondrocytes

13. Bone marrow like structure is absent

14. Haversian systems and Volkman’s canals

are absent

15. Three types- hyaline cartilage, fibro

cartilage and elastic cartilage

bone:-

1. It is hard, inelastic and tough

2. Cells are known as osteocytes

3. Matrix is vascular

4. Matrix occur in lamellae

5. Matrix has a protein called ossein.

6. Matrix is both organic and inorganic

7. Matrix always have calcium salts

predominantly calcium phosphates

8. Bones are rich in blood supply

9. Growth pattern of bone is bidirectional

10. osteocytes have filopodia

11. Lacunae gives off canaliculi

12. Each lacunae has only one bone cell

(osteocyte)

13. Bone marrow is present ( a

haematopoietic tissue from which all blood

cells are formed)

14. Haversian systems and Volkman’s canals

are present

15. Two types- compact bone and spongy

bone

(3) aerobic and anaerobic

1. Aerobic respiration refers to complete breakdown of metabolic fuels in presence of oxygen.

Anaerobic respiration is the process of partial breakdown of fuel (glucose) in absence of oxygen.

2.It includes glycolysis, citric acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation. The first two processes take place in the cytoplasm while last one occurs in mitochondria.

Glycolysis is followed by ethanol fermentation (occurs in yeast) or lactic acid fermentation (in muscles and microbes like lactic acid bacteria).

(3)The end products are carbon dioxide and water.

End products of ethanol fermentation are ethanol and carbon dioxide; that of lactic acid fermentation are lactic acid....
