HIMALAYAN MOUNTAINS

Himalayan Mountain ranges run in a west-east direction from the Indus to the Brahmputra.The Himalaya consists of three ranges.The northern-most range is Inner Himalayas or Himadri,the range lying to the south is Himachal and the outer-most range is Shiwaliks.The longitudinal valley lying between lesser Himalaya and Shiwaliks are known as Duns ex-Dehra Dun,Kotli Dun,etc.

PENINSULAR PLATEAU

The peninsular plateau is a tableland composed of the old crystalline,igneous and metamorphic rocks.It was formed due to breaking and drifting of the Gondwana

land.This plateau consists of two broad divisions,namely,the Central Highlands and the Deccan Plateau lying to north of the Narmada river,covering a major area of the Malwa plateau,is known as Central Highlands.The Deccan Plateau is a triangular landmass that lies to the south of river Narmada
