Easiest way to understand this is...Legislation means law making Legislative body is our parliament because it is responsible for making laws, policy and programs.
Executive - They make sure that all these programs are implemented and executed properly. Basically they deal with administration. Ex- IAS , IPS.
For example- GST is passed by parliament (legislatives includes all the ministers involved) and it will be implemented by executives later on.
