Tissue is a group of cells with more or less common origin and doing a specific function. Plant tissues are broadly classified into two categories based on their capacity of cell division. They are Meristematic tissues and Permanent tissues. Meristem is a type of tissue system in plants, composed of a mass of undifferentiated cells and their primary function is to take part in the growth of plants.

Permanent tissues are differentiated tissues doing specific functions such as conduction, providing mechanical support or carrying out photosynthesis etc. Permanent tissues are originated and differentiated from meristematic tissues.

Differentiate between the meristematic tissues with cancerous cells:

Meristematic tissue:

  • Encompass undifferentiated cells that show continuous proliferations that differentiate into a particular cell or tissue.
  • A mass of stem cells known as the meristematic tissues shows perfect metabolic conditions that wait for the assigned to a function.

Cancerous cells:

  • These cells are distorted and proliferate constantly building up a group of disrupted cells in the body’s entire metabolism.
  • An abnormal mass of cells known as the cancerous cells undergoes constant proliferation.
