Anglicists wanted English to be the medium of instruction during British rule in all institutions for spread of education.

Orientalists :
Orientalists wanted classical language such as Sanskrit, Arabic, Persian to be the medium of instruction for spread of education in India.

The Orientalists favoured the 'traditional' system with Sanskrit and Persian as the medium of instruction while the Angliscists favoured English as medium of Instructions.
