Primary pollutant is an air pollutant emitted directly from a source.
Secondary pollutant is not directly emitted, but forms when other pollutants (primary pollutants) react in the atmosphere.
Secondary pollutants form due to mixing of primary pollutants and natural resources such as water, air etc.
EFFECTS :
- They are harmful like mixing of sulphuric acid suspended in air with rain to form acid rain . This rain causes skin diseases like skin cancer, skin aging, etc.
- Smog poses a human health hazard.
- Greenhouse gases can result in global warming, which can change many areas around the world.
- It damages crops.
- It slows the process of photosynthesis by reducing the absorption of CO2 by the plant.
