⇒ it would be safe from evaporation

⇒ water stored would would not be polluted by animals or humans

⇒ it would help in recreation and supporting biodiversity.

Water stored above ground.

⇒ it has high risk of  contamination by wastes

⇒ water storing requires building of tanks and other things

⇒ most amount of water would be lost by due top evaporation.

⇒ it may provide a space for breeding mosquitoes

⇒ Also, it doesn't helps nature in any way .
