Countries with Average income above $1216 are classified as rich while countries with $1035 or less are poor and other are classified as upper middle or lower middle by the World Bank.

UNDP measures :-

i) Health status using life expectancy.

ii) Educational status using Literacy rate

Gross enrolment ratio

iii) Descent standard of living using GDP per capita.

Based on this it gives HDI ranks to country.
