uniform linear motion
in at the velocity is constant and acceleration is zero
example of uniform linear motion
a ball rolling on a straight path

uniform circular motion in it the velocity is not constant because the direction is changed due to the circular path
example of uniform circular motion artificial satellite orbiting around the earth

The basic difference between uniform linear motion & uniform circular motion is. Uniform Linear Motion: Velocity is constant & thus it is a uniform motion. Acceleration is zero. Uniform Circular Motion: Velocity is not constant due to continuous change in Direction & thus it is not a uniform motion.

1.)

  • Motion of artificial satellites around the earth is an example of uniform circular motion. The gravitational force from the earth makes the satellites stay in the circular orbit around the earth.
  • The motion of electrons around its nucleus.
  • The motion of blades of the windmills.
  • The tip of second’s hand of a watch with circular dial shows uniform circular motion.  ( write any 2 )

2.) Uniform circular motion is accelerated because the velocity changes due to continuous change in the direction of motion. So, even when the body moves ta a constant speed, its velocity is not constant.  Therefore circular motion is an acceleration motion even when the speed remains constant.
